Driven by love

Why my children and I decided to start a breeding program.

We had essentially two impetuses. (Three if you count the fact that we just REALLY love dogs.)

1. Dogs deserve to be happy and families deserve great dogs.

As I helped families and dogs I saw three things causing most "behavior problems".

1.  The dogs are bred for jobs that no longer exists.

2. The dog was just born with a fearful or reactive temperament.

3. Small breeds are frequently under socialized.

Breeders and rescues alike keep them in a bubble to prevent illness transmission because illness will impact their profit margins. But under socialization impacts the dogs long term welfare and quality of life. It's what makes them "yippy" or described as "small dog syndrome". They are doing that because they are scared. You would be scared too if you were born in a world full of giants and didn't know you were safe. There are ways to mitigate the risk of illness and still give the puppies the socialization they deserve.

2. Health Issues Break Hearts

My other impetus was, our family lost two beloved dogs Zaidah and Winona in two years. They both had perfect family dog temperaments. But they were puppy mill rescues and both died young of congenital illness. We became committed to fighting puppy mills by creating an option for families to get sweet, healthy dogs from a loving, reputable, in home source.
